Acupuncture
Natural Veterinary Mobile Care
Acupuncture is a form of medicine that has been around for thousands of years. It involves placing very thin needles in specific locations, called acupuncture points. Acupuncture points are on meridians of energy flow throughout the body. These points are also areas that contain a high concentration of blood vessels, lymphatics, and nerves. Acupuncture treatment causes the release of endorphins and other substances in the body that help control pain. Stimulation of these points triggers increased blood flow to the targeted area, which helps relieve chronic inflammation and pain.

What conditions can acupuncture treat?
Acupuncture can help manage a wide range of conditions in cats and dogs, including arthritis, hip dysplasia, intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), neurological disorders, musculoskeletal injuries, chronic pain, digestive disorders, respiratory issues, skin conditions, kidney disease, urinary tract issues, anxiety, stress, immune system support, and even cancer support.
What does each session look like?
After arriving and making sure your pet is comfortable, Dr. Grude will gently insert very thin, acupuncture needles into specific points on the body, targeting areas that correspond to nerves, muscles, and energy pathways. The placement is carefully chosen based on the condition being treated. Needles are left in place for approximately 15 minutes, but may be shorter or longer depending on what the body needs. Most patients receive a combination of acupuncture and chiropractic treatments at each session. A normal session typically lasts approximately 45 minutes.
How many sessions will my pet need?
The number of sessions your pet requires will be dependent on the condition we are treating. During the initial consultation, we will determine the best treatment plan that fits your pets conditions. Once a week treatments initially work best for most patients. As there is improvement, the treatment interval is lengthened. Patients with acute, severe pain may need treatments twice a week initially.
